  • Authorization to Collect pension

    DESCRIPTION

    The Dominican Republic, through its delegations abroad, offers all Dominican citizens and of other nations PUBLIC NOTARY services so that they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

    Authorizations to Collect Pension are made by pension beneficiaries of the Dominican Republic who, while residing in other countries, need the Ministry of Finance of the Dominican Republic to deliver the check to a second person. The authorization must be made directly by the direct beneficiary of the Pension.

    All citizens have the right to request authorizations for the withdrawal of pensions in the Dominican Republic through any consular office of the Dominican Republic.

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. Dominican identity document (passport or Electoral identity card “cédula”), or another identity document.
    2. Electoral Identity Card (“cédula”) and address of the person who will withdraw the pension.

    OBSERVATIONS

    1. If the pensioned citizen is in very poor physical condition, they must be accompanied by a close relative carrying identification that proves direct relation to the pensioned (child, partner, sibling, etc.).

    Document Management Authorization for Minors (passport, visa and certification)

     

    DESCRIPTION

     

    The Dominican Republic, through its delegations abroad, offers all Dominican citizens and of other nations PUBLIC NOTARY services so that they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

    To facilitate the management of passports, birth certificates, and visas in the Dominican Republic, Dominican consular offices abroad provide parents and guardians the ability to carry out this process.

     

    All citizens have the right to request consular offices in the Dominican Republic authorizations to manage passports, visas, and birth certificates in the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. Dominican identity document (passport or Electoral identity card “cédula”), or any other identity document.
    2. Foreign document (passport, residence permit. or national identity card), in the case of an authorization to manage visas.
    3. Identity document and address of the person receiving the authorization.

    TIME OF DELIVERY

    Between ten minutes and two hours depending on the urgency, the amount of previous requests, and staff available.

    OBSERVATIONS

     

    1. In the case of an authorization to collect passports for minors, one of the parent’s signature is sufficient.
    2. In the case of managing visas, it is required that both parents sign the authorization. If parents are located in different countries, they each must make a separate authorization.

    Authorization for Traveling with Minors

    DESCRIPTION

    The Dominican Republic, through its delegations abroad, offers all Dominican citizens and of other nations PUBLIC NOTARY services so that they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

    Authorizations for travel with minors are those requested by citizens living abroad who need to authorize the exit or entrance to the Dominican Republic of their children (under 18 years old). Authorizations should be made directly by the parents or legal guardians of the minors.

     

    All citizens have the right to request authorizations for minors to leave the Dominican Republic in the Consular Offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. A recent photograph of each child, size 5 x 5 cm, white background, front facing, flat (both females and males), without smiling or grimacing, with hair pulled back, and with clearly exposed ears.
    2. Original or copy of Birth Certificate of the minors.
    3. Dominican Electoral Identity Card (“cédula”) of AUTHORIZER (if available).
    4. Dominican passport of AUTHORIZER (if available).
    5. Identity document of the AUTHORIZER.
    6. Legible copy of identity document and permanent address of person AUTHORIZED.

  • Death Certificate

    DESCRIPTION

    The Dominican Republic, through its consular offices abroad, offers all citizens services related with the function of CIVIL REGISTRATION OFFICE, so that they can carry out any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

     

    The Declaration of Death is the act by which a citizen informs the Consular Office of the death of a Dominican citizen. This Act serves to notify the death of a Dominican to the civil registry of the Dominican Republic, with the objective of properly registering the history of deaths of all Dominicans, regardless of the country in which the event occurred.

     

    All citizens have the right to request Death Certificate services from the consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. That the person deceased is Dominican.
    2. That a Dominican citizen, foreigner, or an institution duly represented presents itself to the Consular Office to carry out the Declaration of Death.
    3. Electoral Identity Card (Cédula) of the deceased (if available).
    4. Dominican passport of the deceased (if available).
    5. Dominican birth certificate of the deceased (if available).
    6. Death Certificate of the foreign institution that certified the death.
    7. Report on the cause of death (if any).
    8. One (1) witness.

    Declaration of Death Certificate

     

    DESCRIPTION

     

    The Dominican Republic, through its delegations abroad, offers all citizens services of CIVIL REGISTRATION OFFICE, as well as other matters related to consular management, with the objective they can perform any activity or function which such documents or services are essential for.

     

    The Declaration of Death Certificate aims to attest that the Consular Office carried out the Declaration of Death of a Dominican citizen.

     

    All citizens have the right to request CERTIFICATE services at consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. Have carried out the Declaration of Death.
    2. Identity document of the applicant.

  • Legalisation of Dutch documents by apostille 

    The Netherlands is a member of the Apostille Convention. Countries that are members of the Apostille Convention legalise documents using a stamp or sticker called an ‘apostille’. In the Netherlands you can get an apostille from a district court. Documents with an apostille can be used in all of the countries that are members of the Convention.

    What documents does the Apostille Convention relate to?

    • Documents issued by judicial authorities (for example, a public prosecutor, a court registrar or a court enforcement agent)

    • Administrative documents, including certificates, diplomas and civil status documents

    • Documents drawn up by a civil-law notary

    • Official certificates which are placed on documents signed by persons in their private capacity (for example, certificates recording the registration of a document or the fact that it existed on a certain date)

    Exceptions

    The following documents cannot be legalised by apostille:

    • Documents drawn up by diplomatic or consular agents (for example, declarations of unmarried status drawn up by a foreign embassy in the Netherlands)
    • Documents relating to commercial transactions or customs formalities

  • Marrige Ceremony

    DESCRIPCION

    Through its delegations abroad, the Dominican Republic offers all Dominican citizens services regarding CIVIL REGISTRY OFFICE so they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

     

    Marriage Ceremony is the official and Civil act by which the marriage is between a man and a woman of Dominican nationality. This act is carried out in the offices of consular post.

     

    Every Dominican citizen has the right to request in consular offices in the Dominican Republic authorization and assistance to hold a Marriage ceremony.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. For the publication of the Edict or Marriage Proclamation:
    2. a) Passport or Dominican identity and electoral card (Cédula).
    3. b) Birth certificates of both parties.
    4. c) Sworn statements of status as single of both parties.
    5. d) If any party has been divorced, he or she must present the divorce decree.

     

    1. For the celebration of the Marriage Ceremony
    2. a) Parties have waited the legal time span for publication of the Edict or proclamation of Marriage.
    3. b) Four (4) witnesses, one (1) best man, one (1) bridesmaid, and two (2) witnesses.

     

    TIME OF DELIVERY

    1. Publication of the Edict or Marriage Proclamation

    Between 10 minutes and 2 hours depending on the urgency of previous requests and the availability of the consulate.

    1. Celebration of Marriage Ceremony

     

    After 16 days without anyone presenting themselves as objecting to the union, the marriage will take place between 3 to 5 days depending on the urgency of previous requests and the availability of the consulate.

    OBSERVATIONS

    1. The amount to be paid is in US dollars (USD); in the euro zone it will be charged in EUROS or in the currency of the country where the consular office is located.
    2. The amount to be paid may vary depending on the cost of living in the city where the consular office is located.
    3. Immediately after the production of the Consular Edict, it will be published at the headquarters of the Dominican Consulate, allowing for any third person to pronounce his or her disagreement with the marriage and provide evidence for its suspension.

    DESCRIPCIÓN

    Through its delegations abroad, the Dominican Republic offers all Dominican citizens services regarding CIVIL REGISTRY OFFICE so they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

     

    Dominican consular offices give support to Dominicans who wish to marry in foreign territory. To do this, they take into account applicable laws, in order to indicate to the public the differences with the Dominican Republic and to help in any procedures that encloses compliance with the Law of the Dominican Republic, as well as advice on everything concerning the law of the country where they are located.

     

    All Dominicans who meet the requirements set by Dominican law and by the law of the country where they are located are able to marry in foreign territory by requesting documentation and advice to the consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. a) If they marry at a consular office of the Dominican Republic

     

    1. That at least one party is Dominican.

     

    1. Physically present yourself to the consulate of the Dominican Republic.

     

    1. Valid Dominican passport of the contracting parties (or of the Dominican party).

     

    1. Passport or Dominican identity and electoral card (Cédula) of the contracting parties (or of the Dominican party).

     

    1. Legalized birth certificates of the contracting parties.

     

    1. Non-Dominican Identity document contracting parties (if available).

     

    1. Meet the minimum age required by Dominican law.

     

    1. Publication of Edict or Marriage Proclamation of the Consular Office.

     

    1. Legalized Divorce Act (if a party is divorced).

If any are divorced in the Dominican Republic, apply for a legalized Certificate of Divorce from the Dominican Chancellery and the Consulate of the country where he or she will marry, and submit it to the officialdom of the country where he or she will marry, together with the other documents it requested.

    ¿What does a foreigner need to marry in the Dominican Republic?

    DESCRIPTION

     

    Through its delegations abroad, the Dominican Republic offers all Dominican citizens services regarding CIVIL REGISTRY OFFICE so they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

     

    The Civil Registry Offices of the Dominican Republic attend any citizen of the world in the process of marriage, regardless of whether the marriage takes place between a foreigner and a Dominican, or between two foreigners, always with the application of the laws of the Dominican Republic.

     

    All citizens who meet the requirements of Dominican laws may marry in Dominican territory.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. Choose a Civil Registry Office (normally there is one for each municipality).

     

    1. Request the requirements.

     

    1. Request a reservation for the Civil Judge to perform the marriage.

     

    1. Birth Certificate of each contracting party correctly apostilled (if it is a foreign document, it must be duly apostilled or legalized if the country of origin of the document is not part of the agreement of the Apostille Convention of The Hague).

     

    1. If a party has been divorced, they should provide a recent Divorce Act (if it is a foreign document, must be duly apostilled or legalized if the country of origin of the document is not part of the agreement of the Apostille Convention of The Hague).

     

    1. Sworn Statement of Status as Single duly apostilled.

     

    1. Copy of passport (if foreigner).

     

    1. Photocopy of National Identity Card (if foreigner).

     

    1. Meet the minimum age required by Dominican law.

     

    1. Physically attend the Ceremony.

     

    1. Two (2) witnesses with their National Identity card.

    NOTES:

    1. If a Separate Property Act is not presented and Civil Judge is not told anything regarding this matter, the marriage will be declared as Sharing Chattel and Conjugal.

     

    1. Once married, the Civil Registry Office will receive a Marriage Certificate Act, that, in order that is has effect abroad, it is recommended that it be duly apostilled in the Dominican Chancellery.

     

    1. Any questions regarding any limitations of any contracting party must be made to the Civil Judge.

    Sworn Statement of Marital Status and Residency

    DESCRIPTION

    The Dominican Republic, through its delegations abroad, offers all Dominican citizens and of other nations PUBLIC NOTARY services so that they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential in accordance to the laws of the Dominican Republic or any other country

    The Sworn Statement of Marital Status and Residency is the notary act where a citizen under Oath declares that at the time of the statement he or she is single, also reporting where he or she has been residing in the last two years.

    Dominicans and foreigners who wish to conduct SWORN STATEMENTS that will have effect in the Dominican Republic or another country, can go to directly to Dominican consular offices, to register their SWORN STATEMENT.

    All citizens have the right to carry out Sworn Statements in the consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. Dominican Cédula (identification card – if available).
    2. Valid Dominican passport (if available).
    3. Identity document of the declarant in the country where he or she resides (if available).
    4. Accurate information of the objective of the Sworn Statement.

    OBSERVATIONS

    1. The Sworn Statement of Marital Status and Residency is restricted to some countries that request this procedure from Dominican citizens. Consult in a Dominican Consular Office whether or not to use this service in the country where the citizen is located.

    Dominicans and foreigners requiring another person (proxy) acting on their behalf in the Dominican Republic or another country in order to run errands in the form of their REPRESENTATIVE, can go to the Dominican consular offices so that they can WRITE A NOTARIAL ACT.

    Notarial Acts of REPRESENTATION are those where a citizen or institution (APPOINTING PARTY) entrusts another citizen or institution (PROXY) to represent them in any civil action that requires REPRESENTATION before the institutions of the Dominican Republic or another country.

    All citizens have the right to request and perform Notarial Acts at consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. Dominican Electoral Identity Card (if available).
    2. Dominican passport (if available).
    3. Identity document of the PROXY.
    4. Information as specific as possible for the reason of representation; all the actions that the APPOINTING PARTY requires the PROXY perform their behalf.
    5. Information demostrating that the APPOINTING PARTY has legal authority to ask the PROXY to do something on their behalf in respect to any property, whether real or personal property (title deed, bank account, financial certificate, etc.) full name, identity document and address of the proxy. Any information regarding matters that are of interest to the person concerned.

    REQUIREMENTS

    1. Dominican Electoral Identity Card (if available).

    3. Identity document of the APPOINTING PARTY.
    4. Copy of the title to the property (if available), otherwise unequivocal description of the property (type, location, size, land registration, etc.)
    5. Name and last names, identity documents, and address of the PROXY.

    Description

    When citizens have lost their personal passport can go to the Dominican Consulate in order to request a new passport. The Dominican Consulate will hand over a biometric passport with all the safety and reliability guarantees suggested by the ICAO.

    Every Dominican citizen has the right to request in consular offices of the Dominican Republic a new passport book when the previous one has expired.

     

     

    REQUIREMENTS

    First. Once aware of the loss of the document, Dominican citizen must head, with an identification document, to the nearest police station and report the loss of the passport. The station will issue a document certifying the report.

    Second. Physically head to the Dominican Consulate to ask and/or review the list of missing documents that held by the authorities of the country where the consulate is located, to see if the passport has been handed over. If found, it will be delivered personally to the holder of the passport.

    Third. If the lost passport has not been sent to the Dominican Consulate by the authorities of the country where the loss occurred, the citizen can proceed to request the issuance of a new passport book in the Consulate. For this purpose, it is required:

    1. Report of passport loss from the local police.
    2. Sworn Statement of Loss of Passport (if report with the local police is not available).
    3. Birth certificate legalized by the Central Electoral Board of the Dominican Republic.

  • Variety of Certificates

     

    DESCRIPTION

     

    The Dominican Republic, through its delegations abroad, offers all Dominican citizens PUBLIC NOTARY and CIVIL REGISTRATION OFFICE services, as well as other matters related to consular management, so they can perform any activity or function for which such services and documents are essential.

     

    The Dominican Consulate is able to give certification on various natures related to Dominican laws that have to do with the Civil Registry, Public Notary, and consular administration. For this reason, any certification not described in the various public documents of the consulate can be raised directly, for which citizens must clearly state the use it will give to the requested certification. From that moment, the Consulate shall promptly inform the citizen whether it can issue the certification sought.

     

    All Dominicans are entitled to solicit certifications of a variety of natures at consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. Submit Dominican identification document.
    2. Present the required documentation for the requested certification.

    GENERAL NOTES

    1. All nationals of countries able to legally enter the European Union, the United States, Canada and Britain, can enter the national territory of the Dominican Republic with the simple presentation of the tourist card (decree 691-07 dated December 18, 2007).
    2. All foreigners who enter the Dominican Republic with visa or tourist card must have a valid passport, with minimal effect and remain in effect during the stay and departure from the Dominican territory.
    3. All foreigners who wish to enter the Dominican Republic for business purposes should apply for a Business Visa, simple or multiple, in the consular missions of the Dominican Republic abroad, despite being included in the list of countries that can enter with tourist card, since the latter can be used for tourism purposes only. Business visas will be granted by Dominican Consulates under the provisions of Resolution No. 01-08 dated February 7, 2008 of the MIREX.
    4. Visa applications will be received and authorized exclusively by the Chancellery, under its mechanisms, restrictions, and procedures established by the Vice Minister for Consular and Migration Affairs.
    5. If a person needs a visa and there is no Dominican Consulate in the country where they are located, they should contact Consulate in the nearest country.
    6. If a person wants to extend their visit while in the Dominican Republic, they have to through the offices of the General Directorate of Immigration and request the extension, applicable only once.

     

  • What is required to declare children of Dominicans born abroad?

    DESCRIPCION

    Through its delegations abroad, the Dominican Republic offers all Dominican citizens services regarding CIVIL REGISTRY OFFICE so they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

    According to the Constitution of the Dominican Republic, all the children of Dominicans born abroad are also Dominicans as long as they register in the country. This registration process can be initiated in Dominican consular offices, taking into account the constraints and limitations that the laws of the Dominican Republic indicate.

    All Dominican parents have the right to declare their children in the consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. That at least one parent is Dominican.
    2. Physical presence of both parents in the Dominican Consular Office.
    3. Physical presence of the child.
    4. A recent photograph of the child, size 4 x 5 cm, white background, front, without earrings (for both females and males), without a smile or grimace, hair pulled back, and clearly observable ears .
    5. Dominican Electoral Identity Card of parents (if available).
    6. Dominican passport of parents (if available).
    7. Dominican birth certificate of parents (if available).
    8. Family book or child’s birth certificate statement issued by the foreign civil officialdom, duly legalized and translated into Spanish if in another language.
    9. Marriage certificate if parents are married to each other.
    10. One (1) witness.

    TIME OF DELIVERY

    Between ten minutes and two hours depending on the urgency, the amount of previous requests, and staff available.

    OBSERVATIONS

     

    1. In case of absence or death of the mother, the declaration may be made by the father.
    2. If the declaration is made before the child is 60 days old will be considered timely. After that date it will be considered late.
    3. For the Declaration of Birth to be properly registered, parents must process before the Central Electoral Board of the Dominican Republic a request for a transcript of the Declaration of Birth, which will be delivered the Consular Office.
    4. Both respondents and witnesses should be aware that under the law of the Dominican Republic, any false aspect of the declaration is perjury, which shall be punished with imprisonment of two (2) to five (5) years and fines of ten (10) to twenty (20) minimum wages in the Dominican Republic.
    5. If the father or mother does not possess a Dominican Electoral Identity Card, the presence of two (2) witnesses who have such document is necessary. If the respondent does have this document, only the presence of one witness is necessary, who should also have their Dominican Electoral Identity Card, and who will attest under oath before the Consular Office the relationship of mentioned above.
    6. Consular offices have the right to refuse to perform a Declaration of Birth should they doubt the veracity of the information provided by respondents or if the statement does not have all the requirements under the constitution of the Dominican Republic and its laws .

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Certificate of no Declaration of Birth

    DESCRIPTION

    Through its delegations abroad, the Dominican Republic offers all Dominican citizens services regarding CIVIL REGISTRY OFFICE so they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

    The Certificate of no Declaration of Birth is a document that proves that a citizen born child of Dominicans abroad has not been given a declaration of birth at the Consulate of the Dominican Republic.

    All parents who wish can apply for a Certificate not Declaration of Birth at consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. Dominican identification document: passport or Dominican electoral identity card.
    2. Identification document of the child, where kinship is clearly established: birth certificate of another country, family book, identity card of another country, etc.

    TIME OF DELIVERY

    Between ten minutes and two hours depending on the urgency, the amount of previous requests, and staff available.

    OBSRVATIONS

    1. The amount to be paid is in US dollars (USD), in the euro zone it will be paid in EUROS or in the currency of the country where the Consular Office is located.

    3. It is important to note that the Constitution of the Dominican Republic is clear as to the nationality of children of Dominicans born abroad.
    4. While a Certificate not Declaration of Birth may be issued, this does not mean that it is certifying that the citizen is not Dominican, but rather it is proving that the procedure required by the Constitution for the Dominican nationality of the children of Dominicans born abroad has not been fulfilled.

     

     

     

     

     

     

     

    Certificate of Nationality

    DESCRIPTION

    The Dominican Republic through its delegations abroad offers all citizens CERTIFICATION services and other services related to consular management, so that they can perform any activity or function for which such services are essential they need to be executed under laws of the Dominican Republic or any other country.

     

    The Certificate of Nationality aims to attest that a citizen is Dominican. This certification shall be established in accordance with the law the reason by which the citizen is Dominican, ie: by birth, origin, decree, marriage or naturalization.

     

    Dominicans and foreigners who need CERTIFICATIONS to have effects in the Dominican Republic or another country, can go to the Dominican consular offices for their creation.

     

    All citizens have the right to request Certifications at consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. Recent Birth Certificate (mandatory).
    2. Dominican Electoral Identity Card of parents (if available).
    3. Valid Dominican passport (if available).

     

    1. Identity document of the country where the APPLICANT is located (if available).

    Certificate of Birth Declaration

    DESCRIPTION

    Through its delegations abroad, the Dominican Republic offers all Dominican citizens services regarding CIVIL REGISTRY OFFICE so they can perform any activity or function for which such documents or services are essential.

    The Certificate of Birth Declaration is the official document issued by the consular office of the Dominican Republic, as proof of a declaration of birth.

     

    All Dominican parents have the right to request Certificates of Birth Declaration for their children in the consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. Dominican identification document: passport or Dominican Electoral Identity Card.
    2. Demonstrate kinship with the minor being declared and if not a parent, an authorization of at least one parent.
    3. To have made the declaration of birth of the child in a Dominican consular office.

     

    TIME OF DELIVERY

    Between ten minutes and two hours depending on the urgency, the amount of previous requests, and staff available.

    OBSERVATIONS

     

    1. The amount to be paid is in US dollars (USD), in the euro zone it will be paid in EUROS.
    2. Once in the consular office, all people with children will be served with priority.

     

    Act of Recognition

    DESCRIPTION

    Through its delegations abroad, the Dominican Republic offers all Dominican citizens services regarding CIVIL REGISTRY OFFICE so they can perform any activity or function associated to birth, marriage or death.

    The Act of Recognition is a declaration that a father makes recognizing that a child previously declared by the mother is his child, authorizing and accepting that from the date onwards, the minor will have his first name and will be legally identified as his acknowledged child.

    Dominicans and foreigners who require services of CIVIL REGISTRY OFFICE, can go to the Dominican consular offices.

    All citizens have the right to request a Recognition Act at consular offices of the Dominican Republic.

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    1. That at least one parent is Dominican (required).
    2. Certificate of Birth where the mother declared the child (required).
    3. If the mother is not present, a notarized and legalized authorization from the mother stating that she agrees with the father acknowledging the child is necessary.
    4. Dominican Electoral Identity Card of the father (if available).
    5. Valid Dominican passport of the father (if available).
    6. Identity document of the mother (if available).
    7. Two (2) witnesses.

    ¿What is required for children of Dominicans born abroad to obtain Dominican nationality?

    DESCRIPTION

    The Constitution of the Dominican Republic offers all Dominican children born abroad the possibility of obtaining Dominican nationality.

     

    Consular Offices help any citizen in the process of obtaining Dominican nationality for Dominican children born abroad, either through a Declaration of birth and / or by giving guidance on how to transcribe the Birth Certificate in the Dominican Republic.

     

    All children of Dominicans abroad are entitled to acquire Dominican nationality.

     

    REQUIREMENTS

     

    Option A: Declare the child in a Dominican consular post and then transcribe the Act in the Dominican Republic

     

    A1 Meet the requirements of the Consular Office, which are listed below:

     

    1. That at least one parent is Dominican.
    2. That the minor is 16 years or younger.
    3. The physical presence of both parents in the Dominican Consular Office.
    4. The physical presence of the child.
    5. A recent photograph of the child, size 4 x 5 cm, white background, front, without earrings (for both females and males), without a smile or grimace, hair pulled back, and clearly observable ears.
    6. Dominican Electoral Identity Card of both parents (if available).
    7. Dominican passport of parents (if available).
    8. Dominican Birth Certificate of parents (if available).
    9. Family book or certificate of declaration of birth of the child, issued by the foreign civil registry, duly legalized and translated into Spanish if in another language.
    10. Marriage Certificate if parents are married to each other.
    11. One (1) witness.

     

    A2 Request the Consular Office a Certification of the Birth Certificate.

     

    A3 Transcribe the Birth Certificate emitted by the Consular Office in the Dominican Republic.

     

    Option B: Transcribe the birth certificate emitted by the Civil Registry office of the country where minor was born.

     

    STEPS TO TRANSCRIBE BIRTH CERTIFICATE IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

     

    1. Apostille Birth Certificate provided by the country where the child was born.
    2. If the birth certificate is from Consular Office, then legalize the Certificate in the Dominican Chancellery.
    3. Make a copy of the identity document of the father and/or mother that is Dominican.
    4. Make a copy of the identity document of the father or mother that is not Dominican (if applicable).
    5. The parent who is Dominican should write a letter to the Central Electoral Board (Junta Central Electoral) requesting the transcript of the Certificate so that the child can acquire Dominican nationality.
    6. Go to the Central Electoral Board (Junta Central Electoral) in the Dominican Republic (located in the Plaza de la Bandera, Distrito Nacional) with all required documents, so that the transcript of the Certificate can be authorized.
    7. Pay the amount required for the Transcript Authorization.
    8. Choose the Civil Registry Office where the Certificate will be registered.
    9. After 15 days, pick up the Authorization at the Central Electoral Board (Junta Central Electoral), so that the Civil Registry Office selected can carry out the transcript of the Certificate.
    10. Take the authorization of the Central Electoral Board (Junta Central Electoral) to the Civil Registry Office or corresponding entity.
    11. Pay the rates that apply to the Civil Registry Office.
    12. Request the Certificate of Dominican Birth Certificate of the child.

     

    Note: If some parents cannot do this process in the Dominican Republic directly, it is possible to entrust any other person or institution to conduct the process.

     

    OBSERVATIONS

    1. The Dominican Consular Offices, depending on the specific characteristics of the Declaration of Birth, may request additional requirements not numbered herein.

     

    1. Consular offices have the right to refuse to administer a service if consular staff doubt of its utility to the citizen; if they think the service will harm the future interests of the Applicant; or if it contests the public trust of the Consular Office.

     

    1. The Central Electoral Board (Junta Central Electoral) may make additional document requirements not described herein.

     

    The Central Electoral Board (Junta Central Electoral) may reject the transcript of the Certificate, if it does not adequately comply with the law.

  • Procedure to request extended stay in the Dominican Republic (more than 30 days)

    1- Write letter addressed to Director of Migration detailing the reason(s) for, and duration of the extension,

    2- Copy of the page containing the passport picture

    3- Copy of page containing the latest entry stamp into the Dominican Republic

    This dossier must be deposited physically in correspondence of the Direction General de Migración in Santo Domingo (Autopista 30 de Mayo Esquina Héroes De Luperon Santo Domingo Republica Dominicana).

    The request may take up to 3 weeks to be approved or denied. 

    Below you will find a table with the amount to be paid on exiting the country regardless of the outcome of the extension request. 

    The oficial stance is that failure to request an extension may result in being denied entry into the Dominican Republic on a later date.
